If you ever wanted a pair of studio headphones for recording and mixing that didn't create extraneous waste for the planet, the AIAIAI TMA-2 Studio Headphones are a worthy investment. These headphones provide clarity, separation, and power, doing so using bio-friendly materials and minimal packaging. The ethos of these headphones is simple: AIAIAI doesn't want you to ever replace them; instead, you can upgrade them or re-outfit its parts as need be.
Responsibility and modularity inform the entire design. Consider the 40mm bio-cellulose drivers, which are fashioned out of naturally occurring material. These are paired with Neodymium magnets to create the S05 speaker design, which promises midrange clarity, luxurious lows, a 10 Hz to 40 kHz frequency response, and fantastic separation among instruments. The memory cushions outfitting the earpads provide comfort without creating a waste of materials. The detachable cable terminates in a 3.5mm TRS plug, and a 1/4" adapter is included.
Bio-Cellulose Drivers
The bio-cellulose speaker diaphragm is made of a renewable, biodegradable cellulose with fantastic acoustic properties. This material is stiffer, lighter, and stronger than regular PET speaker units.
S05 Speaker Units
For the S05 speakers, AIAIAI paired the bio-cellulose diaphragm with a high-grade neodymium magnet. The resulting speaker offers a clear midrange, excellent dynamic range, and a more natural tonality overall. When tuning the speaker unit, AIAIAI paid special attention to the clarity in the midrange without compromising the extension in the bass range. This results in a wide sound stage with great instrumental separation.
